My silly kids

Lucy told me she wanted me to take pictures of her "cute bum and face" What a weirdo! She was being quite silly tonight, just making weird faces, singing funny songs, dancing like Goofy, and watching "Scooby Goo." Lucy loves to sing the Happy Family song all day, inserting the names of every person she knows at least 42 times each. She also likes to sing "Some Bean" (Sunbeam). One of the funniest things Lucy does is when she's drawing and I ask her to clean up or get in bed, she glares at me while drawing a frowny face really hard on the magna doodle toy. Lucy's current funny word is noodles. It sounds a little more like "waddles."

Daisy started doing a funny thing where she scrunches her nose and breathes loud. I can't really explain it, but it cracks me up. Boyd used to do the very same thing at her age.

Boyd is so excited to start school. He's been ready to go all week. He packed his backpack and carried it everywhere and wouldn't stop talking about school. Today was his open house at school. Last night I told him no school unless he gets in bed and he jumped right in and was out cold in seconds. This morning I woke him up and he dressed himself, got socks and shoes on and was ready as fast as can be. When we drove up to the school, he started getting nervous. He didn't want to go into his class for a while, but finally warmed up when it was time to go, of course. He starts on Monday and I think he'll do really well again. He has the same teacher as last year, too.

Half a year

Baby Daisy is already 6 months old! I can't even believe it. She's such a little sweetheart, but she's found her screamy voice recently and likes to use it in the night now. I hope that little naughty phase passes up soon. Daisy can sit up pretty well now, with just a few falls here and there. She absolutely loves to watch Boyd and Lucy play and she thinks they are so funny. Boyd always calls her "baby girl" and Lucy calls her "baby Dais." Boydie is especially sweet to her and Lucy is finally catching on to really liking her sister. How can she resist the constant smiles and belly laughs? Daisy also started eating real food and loves everything we have given her so far.
She had some yummy Smokehouse mashed potatoes last night for dinner- I couldn't feed it fast enough and she almost ate the whole thing. Little piggy!

snakes and snails

Today the kids begged me to make some rolls. Its been a while, especially since its hot out. Boyd and Lucy love helping pour in the ingredients. Today they decided to form rolls in the play-doh style. They are into making snakes and snails. I told them after we cook it, we can eat these snakes and snail bread. Lucy said, "Eww no, no that's crazy!" She cracks me up.

Lucy's birthday

My big girl is now 3 years old! Does this mean she's out of the terrible twos? I don't know, we'll have to see. She's been a real big sweetheart today so far and that makes me happy! Her new cooking and dishes toys are a big hit around here. Lucy and Boyd have been playing nicely together since they woke up! They have been making each other pretend meals and pouring water in the cups. I let them take some dishes in the bath tub also, and they loved making "soap soup." (Try saying that 5 times fast.) They want to eat real food on the dishes too, which is a little annoying, but at least they are eating and they are just so darn cute.

Bath time

Boyd and Lucy were in the bath and doing the usual splashing each other thing. Lucy stood up, hands on her hips and said in her most stern voice, "Boyd Martin! That's Enough Already!" The funny thing was that he actually stopped, gave her a hug and said, "Hug and feel better, Ucy." She sat down and he patted her on the head, "There we go, so nice." Then, of course, not 30 seconds later they were back to splashing and bickering. Silly kids. Here's an old picture of them in the tub, maybe just over a year ago and a new one. I think they've changed so much, mostly Lucy's hair is so long now. But, they are still little hams for the camera.

Tweeky's in the sky

Tweek "loved" baths
Tweek was a sweetheart with the kids. I think she just loved being by them. Boyd and Lucy both called her "Kweeky."

Poor little sick Tweeky just couldn't get better, so she was put down yesterday. Trying to explain this to Boyd and Lucy was a little tricky, but who knows what they understand quite yet. Basically, Tweeky went to the kitty doctor and isn't coming home, she died and went to heaven and she's happy there and not sick anymore. Then Boyd said Tweeky went up into the sky. I think the kids know a little more about eternity than we think. They really loved that cat, and she loved them. Tweeky especially picked Lucy as her "pet," and would very often snuggle Lucy in her bed and enjoy her pets as Lucy fell asleep. When Lucy started crawling and then walking, Tweek would play chase with her and stop and run at the right times, making Lucy laugh. It was so cute.

We will miss our little no-tail kitty.

Happy 4th!

Maybe one of these days I will get a blog on the actual day of an event, but not so easy on a weekend because I'd have to fight off Boyd and Ken for some computer time. :) Not worth it!

Anyway... We had a crazy weekend that went by too fast as usual. My vacuum exploded the other day with some mean sparks and sounds and then died. Sad! But then we got a new one that picked up so much junk in one use to make me gag a little. I guess that means it works well, but ew to how much yucky stuff was on my carpet. Hooray for clean carpet now!

We went to the mall to get Boyd some new shoes. He was having one of his "that boy aint right" days. We got some snooty looks from people at the mall for our disturbances. What? Don't all parents have to sit on their screaming 4 year old in the shoe store to get his shoes on? Lucy wanted some attention and new shoes too, of course. So we ended up spending too much money on kid shoes because we didn't have time to think. We just had to grab the light up ones that Boyd didn't throw, and the the name brand pink ones for Lucy because they were the closest on the shelf, and then scram out of there. The baby was good though.

We also drove out to Spring City to see Grandma and Grandpa Hansen for a nice visit. We got some homemade blackberry icecream (which was awesome!). So good to make us late for the fireworks show at the Martins'. Poor Boydie was soooo scared of all of it for some reason. He was worried about the baby getting hurt, even though she was asleep inside. We ended up just hugging on the couch for most of it. He was really shaking out of fear and truly sad! That kid just breaks my heart sometimes.

Church is always an ordeal for us. The kids will go to nursery class only with me or Ken. Boyd is finally liking the nursery, even though he's a giant in there. Lucy was crying every 2 seconds the whole time. But thanks to Papa and Grama, they took her over their house after church. Lucy was good there I guess because she can pretend that she's an only child. Poor middle child!
