It's a pocket!

I wanted to have a little project to do while listening to conference and this is what I came up with.
So it's basically a pocket to hang over the seat in the car for books, paper and markers. We are going to drive to California soon and I'm thinking about some things to help make it a better ride.
I couldn't find anything on Pinterest that was what I had in mind, so I had to just make up a pattern as I went. I doubled up the fabric and did double seams to make it stronger. I basically took a long piece of fabric and folded it up for the pocket, sewed on a second pocket, and folded over the top part and strung an elastic through to hold it. Neat huh?

Boydie Boyd

This week I had an IEP (individual education plan) for Boyd. He is being released from the special education program! He met all of his goals and "passed" the tests- before this year he was behind in language communication mostly, so now he is at or above grade level in all areas. His speech therapy teacher said he is doing everything he should be and no longer needs to see her. The behavioral therapist observed Boyd during class and recess a few times and said he interacts with the other kids well and just fits right in. His teacher said he now participates in class, answers questions, always finishes his work, and he is reading like a champ! The only weird thing he does is still grabs at her shirt buttons or necklace and her hands. So, we'll try to work on that.

Seriously, I couldn't be more proud of this kid!

He wrote a funny story in school: Once there were a pet dinosaur. He loves to chew parts of houses. We said stop chewing houses! Then he chased us. So we killed him. The end.

Spring time!

We have been loving this beautiful weather! Lots of time outside (poor Daisy got a sunburn), lots of playing at the park, some good spring cleaning (there's always more!), and just a little yard work. I've got a few flowers coming up in the yard and I can't wait for them to bloom! I'm excited for another gorgeous day, so... off goes the computer. Later!

Lucy the Lamanite

Lucy decided to dress up as a Lamanite. She even wrote a song "Lucy was a Lamanite, Lamanite, Lamanite! She was a bad, bad girl! She liked to kill the Nephites, Nephites, Nephites! What a bad, bad girl!"She made an Indian headband with a feather, painted war paint with a marker on her face, and tied an apron around her waist.

I took a picture, but unfortunately Lucy the Lamanite doesn't wear shirts, so I'm pretty sure it's not very appropriate to post a half-nude 5 year old. Lucy recruited another soldier (Daisy), and tied up Nephite prisoners (Snow White and Rapunzel dolls). This is one weird kid!

I think it's safe to say she's feeling much better. This morning she woke me up whining and I went out to check on her and she puked on me, the couch, and the rug. Awesome! Good thing I love that girl, 'cuz ew! So I spent all morning cleaning the carpets.

This afternoon I made some "Leprechaun Cookie Hats" and I totally nailed it! Ha haaa, they didn't turn out how I wanted, but they did taste good! It's a chocolate covered marshmallow on top of a striped cookie with green frosting. Oh well!

Grandparent's day

Yesterday it was Grandparent's day for Lucy's Kindergarten class. She was lucky to have Grandma Karen come for the day! They had a cute little program: singing, dancing, reading stories and reciting a poem. Lucy was dang cute!
She got to do some fun activities with Grandma: Make a necklace, paper plate face, hand prints, and reading time.
Lucy said it was the best school day ever!
It was a great day! It was also warm and sunny out, so we got to go on a walk and play at the park without coats! Looks like another great weather day again! Woohoo!
